RareWear FAQs

Can I enroll myself to receive more than one device from the RareWear Program?

No. To maximize the number of patients receiving benefits from this program, a patient will be limited to applying for only one participating device.

Are the devices listed in the program completely free? Will I have to return them later?

Yes the devices listed in the program will be given for free if you are matched for it. You do not have to return the device after receiving it.

How long will it take to hear back on whether my application was successful?

RareWear is a year-round program. There is always scope for new sponsors to join the program and provide a variety of devices as we go ahead with the program. If you need a specific device to manage your condition please reach out and we will try our best to collaborate with the device sponsor.

I am interested in one of the participating devices. But I want to understand more about its working and operation. Who do I contact?

For Biotricity, please visit www.biotricity.com

How long will it take to hear back on whether my application was successful?

Decisions are usually announced roughly one month after the application deadline.

The device has stopped working/ is not getting installed/broken/damaged. What should I do?

For any direct assistance on one of our participating devices please contact the respective companies:

  • Biotricity +1-800-590-4155
  • Bodimetrics +1-844-744-8800
  • Stardos Labs +1-484-452-3768

It's been more than 2 weeks but I haven't received my device. Who should I contact?

Please contact your RG Patient Advocate for further assistance.

Although the devices are free, will I receive any financial compensation for additional treatment resulting from improved monitoring of the rare disease?

There is not an additional patient compensation component to the program. At its core RareWear is a philanthropic program in which RareWear commercial sponsors are providing gifted devices to patients, with Rare Genomics creating the eco-system to do so. To add some more context, Rare Genomics is a volunteer-driven organization that provides 100% pro-bono services and philanthropic partnerships to the community - we are not a revenue-generating organization.
