On January 30 in Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Jimmy Lin, President of the Rare Genomics Institute, and director of a cancer research lab, will be giving a TED talk on cancer therapies. Inspired by the experiences of several friends who have suffered from cancer, Jimmy will go over strategies for how non-experts can take advantage of the latest advances in cancer treatment, through the four “Ds”:
- New treatments that use DNA sequencing to target cancer without harming healthy cells
- Getting into drug trials early in treatment, instead of viewing them as a last resort
- Searching for multiple doctors who specialize in your specific type of cancer
- Researching the latest discoveries for treatment of your type of cancer
